What is this world coming too?

I heard this commercial while driving over the past couple of days. Can't find a link (sorry) but it really bothered me.

It's for an at home DNA test. The tag line went something like...."You used to have to trust someone when they said a child was yours. Now you can make sure."

WTF?!?!?! What has this world come to that there is actually a MARKET for an At Home DNA test to verify paternity?!?!

This just makes me sick.

Yeah, unfortunately, there is. Tall Dark and Brooding had to have one done on The Heiress after she was born. Moral of the story- if you're getting divorced, maybe it's not such a good idea to have sex when you're sleeping with other prople.

Sheesh!

The way you can be destroyed financially with child support payments, you bet your ass there's a market for this!!

Heck yes there's a market for this. Have you seen the Maury Povich show lately? Today I flipped by and the tag line was "13 men, who's the Daddy?".

Really.

It's sad, but necessary. It always has been. In a patriarchal society, men need to be sure of their women. The Ancient Greeks more or less kept their wives under house arrest, and the Crusaders invented the Chastity Belt..

Studies in England have shown that up to 25% of men are unknowingly raising a child that is not biologically theirs.

I keep hearing this theory that males of all species deplore wasting resources on offspring which do not carry their genetic code.

If that's true, it means that adoptive, and stepfathers have a special place in heaven.

I'm thinking that rock I live under is rather warm and cozy.

How much was it? Just curious. The correct answer is priceless, of course.

I wouldn't mind using it to test the DNA of dates to put it in a database and make sure I'm not dating some psycho killer....

....or someone who is married :-)
