Saturday Question of the Day

Every Saturday I'll try to come up with some "out there" question that just makes you stop and think about something not so important. Think of it as a mini vacation. If you have any ideas drop me a line and we'll throw it in here. Who knows, it might be fun.

OK - Here goes

What is your very favorite Christmas song? Come-on....you know you got one. Even if you're really not "into" the holidays.

Mine? I have two. (of course I do) Secular it's Feliz Navadad. I adore that song. I love singing it, I love hearing it, I just love it. No real reason, it just makes me happy.

Religious is tough for me. I have so many that really touch me. But I have to say the song "Mary Did You Know" has to be at the top of the list. It just touches a deep part of my heart. I always tear up. I think it's because it shows the wonder of children. We don't know who they will become, we don't know what great things they will do.....we are simply charged with loving, protecting and guiding them. They are all little miracles just waiting for the chance to bloom.

So...tell me.....what is Your favorite holiday song?!?

Currently, it's "Happy Holidays." (You already know why. :)) But usually, it would be "Let it Snow." Just 'cuz. No really good explanation!

I can only pick one? That makes it too hard a question for me.

The one that makes me think of Christmas time more than any other is Burl Ives singing "Holly Jolly Christmas." But Bing Crosby singing "I Heard The Bells On Christmas Day" is a real close second.

For instrumentals, nothing beats Carol of the Bells.

See, I told you I couldn't pick just one. Strangely enough, I haven't heard any with llamas...

I always get bummed during the holiday's, so instead of listening to all the happy, syrupy, carol-ly types of stuff, I tend to wallow in my misery. Therefore "Please come home for Christmas" is the running favorite.

I'll second the Carol of the Bells for instrumental. For vocal, I think I'd go with "Do you hear what I hear?" or "A Holly Jolly Christmas".
I also love to listen to Mannheim Steamroller's original "Christmas" album...

"When a Child is Born". That was out when I was about four years old, and my baby cousin was born at Christmas. I thought the title and melody were beautiful even at such an early age. Even if I could sing, I couldn't ever sing that without getting choked up. There's such an air of miracle and hope about it.

*sniff*

Carol of the Bells

I just love classical music and I really appreicate the instrumental of it.

Put me down with the undisciplined rabble who can't choose just one.

Carol of the Bells, instrumental or with voice.

Adeste Fidelis - O Come All Ye Faithful, in latin.

My two favorites consist of an oldie but a goodie- "Silent Night", and a recent one (and already mentioned) "Mary, Did You Know?". "Silent Night" sung by a congregation acapela, has always made the hair stand up on my neck. And "Mary, Did You Know" gives a retrospective look at our Savior's life through the eyes of his mother. It ties the reason for the season up in a great big "word" bow. Thanks for asking, Tammi.
