It's alright to tell me I'm wrong. It's alright to say that something looks bad, or doesn't make sense. I won't perish when faced with disagreement. Really - I won't.
It really frustrates me when I find out after the fact that someone didn't like or disagreed with something I did. Now, let's clarify that - someone being someone I like and/or admire. I'm not takin' advise from just any cracked pot, afterall.
Anyway - I'm always amazed when my friends tell me, "I really thought that was a bad idea", or "I knew that wasn't going to work". WELL THEN SAY SOMETHING!!!!!
In my humble opinion friendship is a committment. A committment to be loyal, to be supportive, but to also BE HONEST. Believe me, if I don't understand what the hell you're doing, or disagree with something you say, I'll ask you about it. Oh, I won't tell you in a mean way, I'll just ask. Please be so kind as to return the favor.
You see, I am pretty opinionated (surprise surprise) and terribly independent. So - often times I'll just jump right into something and manage to get myself in trouble. Very Few People Question Me About That Stuff. Why is that? I'm not one to fly off the handle if questioned. I love a good debate, let's talk about it. If I am wrong, you might just save me trouble, time and tears. Believe me, that's a very good thing in my book.
Posted by Tammi at July 6, 2004 07:03 AMTammi - ok, I'll be honest. I wish you didn't use extended entries so much. The computer I surf with at work is really slow when it comes to opening up a new window. It's only a couple seconds, but during that couple seconds, I get knocked out of my warm little cyberworld where you're talking to me, and back into my cold, prickly, banker world.
I think extended entries are fine for hiding pictures and punchlines, but if it's just normal chatty text, I like it better when I can just scroll down to get the rest of the story.
So I'm wondering... is there a reason that you use it so often, or is it more of a "because I can" sort of thing?
Posted by: Harvey at July 8, 2004 10:53 AMHmmm, thats a good question and actuall a very good point. I use extended entries in to save space (like it's paper for cryin' out loud) and so if someone doesn't want to read something they can more easily skip right past.
Point taken and I'll keep that in mind. Thank you.
See, that didn't hurt much did it?!?! :) Oh wait, who am I talkin' too. hee hee hee
Posted by: Tammi at July 8, 2004 01:13 PMLet me get this straight... you're a talented writer who wants to make it easier for people to NOT read you? :-)
I say give the love to the loyalists. I chatted about it here:
