Talking

I've always been a talker (I prefer communicator). The thing I remember being told over and over again while growing up was: Tammi, please shut up. Yeah - I've never NOT spoke what was on my mind.

And it's a well known fact that I talk on the phone. Hell I live with my hands free set on. I have 5000 mins. on my cell package and yes - I have exceeded them. Several times.

That all being said - can I tell you I hate it. Talking that is. Yeah - imagine that.

I noticed that I talk waaaaayyyyy too much when I'm nervous. It's not so much talking as entertaining. But still, either way, I do too damn much of it.

And on the phone? I talk and talk and talk and talk. When I hang up I'm always ticked off at myself. And I finally understand why.

It's not personal. Oh - it's much better than email, but it's still not real. T1G touched on it in this post - where coincidentally he was talking on the phone to ME! This is the kicker for me: Without the phone in hand, it felt like a regular conversation. So I was going nuts because there was no eye contact. It just felt strange.

I talk so much on the phone because I can't SEE you when I talk to you. I can't see the flinch when I say something wrong. I can't see the twinkle in your eye when I tickled your funny bone. But rather than slow down or shut up...I talk more. Talk about a bull in a china shop!

Hell, to be completely honest I don't even like crowds. Oh, no one really notices - I'm just so damned entertaining.

But my favorite way to communicate is one on one. Where I can see you smile, watch your eyes. See the humor on your face.

AND...to be even more shocking......I like to be quiet. Yeah. How 'bout that! I enjoy the silence. Or even just music while sitting around reading. My best friend and I often just sit at her house, both with a book and music going in the background. We may only say 10 words in an entire evening. And if you ask us later - we had a wonderful time bonding.

I'm so tired of talking. Oh - that doesn't mean you're safe from the Tammi Calls. Hell no - if I have to choose between no communication and talking on the phone, I'm all about the phone.

But damn.........

So you hate crowds, like silence, and like to talk. Gee, I guess that explains the blogging to a "T"!

(This is me smiling. Look at the humor on my face:)

GAA. Damn non-proportional spacing and ignorance of white space.

Hey Tammi - I'd never have guessed!

I hate talking on the phone. I usually do everything in my power to get off of the phone as fast as possible.

It's easy, Contagion -- just do like I do and don't ever answer the phone.

I'm not a big phone guy, either. I like writing. I'm better in writing.

And FANTASTIC in person :-)

Tammy,
I have a plan thqt is unlimited because my phonebills have been known to be so high I could fly and visit people........instead of talk to them on the phone.

My hubby and you would get along great, he is a talker too.

I tell him all the time that he could sell a used car to a used car salesman.

It takes us 3 hours to leave a family function because he has to stop to talk to each person as we are leaving.
