Book Review

Yes, with everything going on, thanks to another bout of insomnia I have actually read a book. And, even though I'm sure many of you have already read it......I have to talk about this one. Don't worry - NO SPOILER HERE.

Angles & Demons by Dan Brown (the author of The Da Vinci Code). While it's not a prelude to The Da Vinci Code, it does introduce the main character.

First - this is a book of fiction. And that is exactly how I read it. Oh...there are some interesting tie ins but it's still fiction.

The beginning of the book was kinda slow going. But that's ok. It just had a lot of ground work to lay. The middle rocked. Fast paced, lots of intrique. And about 100 pages before the book ended - what a great finish! WooHoo. But you'll notice I said that occured about 100 pages BEFORE the book actually ended. Those last 100 pages were frustrating, long, and redundant. I caught myself thinking....Come on, enough already - just turn out the light and say good night. I finished it only because I started it. I will NOT be defeated by a damned book.

I was very dissapointed. HOWEVER....I'm still going to read The Da Vinci Code, even though I have been told that it suffers from the same issues that this one did.

Damn, I just hate it when I am let down by a book.

I liked the Da Vinci Code, thought it is at best a mediocre book. Angels & Demons is drek, pure and simple.

Ah, looks like Blake agrees with me about Da Vinci Code. *grin*

Angels and Demons disappointed. I'm waiting for DaVinci to come out in paperback... and I might borrow it from someone. :)
