I witnessed one of the best examples of customer service the other day that I have ever seen.
I was at my local Wal-Mart SuperCenter. I needed to find a wind-up alarm clock. I couldn't think where they would be so I asked a young man if he could point me in the right direction.
He wasn't sure so he asked and they sent me to electronics (for.a.wind-up.alarm.clock?!?) That was fine, I needed ink for my printer anyway.
As I was waiting for the guy to unlock the case here comes my little friend with the directions.
Miss? I just wanted you to know that the wind-up alarm clocks are in Jewelry. There's a whole rack. Here are two different kinds, in case you were interested.
HOLY COW!! He not only followed up on my question but then walked halfway across the store to find me and tell me - AND - bring a couple along to save me the walk!
That rocks.
Now THATS customer service!!
Posted by Tammi at March 8, 2005 05:10 AMHowever, all I hear is that Wal-Mart is the evil empire!?!
Those darn capitalists.
Posted by: John at March 8, 2005 11:25 AMThe few times I've asked a Wal-Mart employee for help, they've physically escorted me to the product in question.
Which I thought was fabulous.
But this guys sounds extra special.
I suspect he'll be moving on to better things eventually, and I wish him well :-)
Posted by: Harvey at March 8, 2005 11:51 AMI dig good customer service with big shovels. I don't shop Wally world, I've had it out for them for years. However the last time I was there, the service I received was nowhere near that well.
Hopefully Harvey is correct about him and he'll go places, Just not with Walmart.

Posted by: Pam at March 11, 2005 12:32 AMWhen they opened a Super WalMart near us, they had the kids working on roller skates so they could get around faster! Way cool! Can you imagine that job application/skills necessary?
