Today's Special

A friend of mine once described this blog as the Corner Diner of the blogisphere. You know, a place you can come to for a cup of coffee, piece of pie or even a big ole meal of home cookin'.

I kinda like that description. It suites me.

Well, based on my mood this morning and the resulting posts, I'd say today's special is Liver and Onions. A good down home meal, but not something everyone enjoys.

Sorry about that. But you can't please everybody everyday.

Don't worry. There will be pie again. Soon.

Meanwhile, remember.....Man cannot live on pie alone........

Liver and onions. I only get it like twice a year. My DH cooks it for me and my Dad and we literally make ourselves sick eating it. Calf liver is the best, as it is more tender. You have to specifically ask for it in the meat markets here cause otherwise they will just give you beef liver, and it is not the same. Not quite sure what my DH does to it, but he sures knows how to cook some liver and onions.

You are incorrect dear - I can live off of pie alone!!

Fruit pies, cream pies, meat pies, shepard's pies, pot pies . . . the list goes on and on.

I love me some pie!

I LOVE Liver and Onions, but haven't had any since my Mom passed. She made the best, but didn't pass the recipe on to me, so I'm clueless.

I too could live off pie ... dairy, fruit, protein, fiber, carbs ...

What a coinkeedink - I was just talking to my mom in N.C. and she was cooking up some liver and onions as a special meal for herself.

I think the discription of your blog being a corner cafe does fit - and you do get that cozy feeling stopping by. I am assuming that it is the kind of cafe that you can get a milk shake with two shots of bourbon in it.

That depends on the pie don't it?

I love liver, onions and mashed potatos and gravy. Unfortunately my wife won't try to cook it because her father didn't like it. Of course he's been dead for years, died at well over ninety.

As soon as we get a little money I'm teaching myself how to cook what I like that she won't. Then I'll find me a nice fat girl with low morals.

Liver and freaking onions?? Dear Gott! My aunt used to cook that dreck all the time when she lived in an apartment building on Bedford Avenue, and as a child, when that cloying, cholesterol-laden schmutzig would start frying, I would run out of her apartment into the hallway, but screaming and trying to coax my gag reflex to be able to have trust in me again.

I sure could go for some pie about now.
