Why would a grown woman, complete with common sense and a fair amount of intelligence, do this to herself?
I'm kind of ticked off at me right now.
For the past week or so I've been really putting myself through hell. And I can't figure out why.
You see, I have a very comfy bed. It's one of our better ones, and I love it.
I also do not have a couch. I have a loveseat and my Golden Throne. Oh, the back reclines and there is an ottoman, but no couch. I love a couch.....
Anyway......I've taken to sleeping in the living room again. Either curled up in the chair or squeezed into the loveseat.
Folks? I'm 6'2". I'm not some petite thing by any stretch of the imagination.
I wake up miserable. I stretch and work to get the kinks out, swearing that was the dumbest thing ever and that WON'T happen again.
The next night? Yep....same ole same ole.
WTF is up with that? I can understand when I was sleepin' on the couch all the time. I had a GREAT couch for sleeping. Better than my mattress. But now? Now, I've really worked to make the bedroom comfortable. I love that mattress.
I've got to figure this out. Because other wise next thing you know the money I'm plannin' on using to get a dining room table will be spent at the Chiropractor's.......and THAT will REALLY piss me off.....
Posted by Tammi at October 12, 2007 08:32 AM | TrackBackYou're deserving of a good bed. That's why you FINALLY got one. Now its time to break old habits and start new ones. Like creating a nightly ritual in which you go in and lay down on the bed to fall asleep.
Got a book? Start reading in bed and dozing off. That may help with the routine.
Selling beds and not sleeping on one, is like being an anthropologist and not believing in dinosaurs. It just don't equate. ;)
Posted by: Lee Ann at October 12, 2007 09:03 AMWhen I lived in Amarillo, I used to do that. I had a fairly comfy bed and slept on my painfully uncomfortable couch. With me, it was because I got a little freaked out in the tiny bedroom and preferred the wide open space of the livingroom.
But yeah, you have no excuse to put yourself through it. As Laurence Simon would say, "Go to bed!"
Posted by: sarahk at October 12, 2007 09:03 AMBeen there, done that. Except that I am a little shorter than you. I think it is just a phase.
Posted by: Butterfly Wife at October 12, 2007 09:05 AMI've never done that, though my sister-in-law did it for years. She had a king sized bed that made me drool... I could have LIVED in that thing... but she spent her nights on the couch.
Like the others said, start a new routine.
Also, the bedroom is more than just a mattress. Look around; what is keeping your from the room/what could make it more inviting for you?
[Yeah, I've got a good hunch what one of those things would be, but you know what I mean. ;>]
What do you MEAN that a bedroom is more than a mattress? That's blasphamy!!!!!
;-)

Perhaps because - at some level - you don't believe you deserve such a nice bed?
Try accepting - and reveling - in your successes - and enjoying them.
Truly. Honestly. Don't just say it. Believe it.
