Idiotic

Like the majority of American's I was heartsick to hear of the tragedy at Virginia Tech. Horrible. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families.

Like the majority of American's I've talked with or read, I was furious to see that NBC and most other MSM organizations were playing the hell out of the "package" the killer mailed.

I hated to see it was out there. Outraged to know it was the "Breaking News".

I had no plans on writing on it. I honestly felt I have nothing to offer.

But then I saw this article during my afternoon read. 36 California Schools Under Lockdown.

I want you to read the article so I'll only point out the things that yanked my chain the hardest.

Seems some 28 year old drug addict decided to threaten A school out in California. Threatening to "make Virginia Tech look mild". But he didn't say which school so all those poor children were locked down. Afraid. Parents. Terrified.

Further down in the article it mentions the huge amount of copy-cat threats that have been happening nation wide.

But I'll bet dollars to donuts those idiotic bastards that have been playin' the hell out of the shit, and that's what it is SHIT, from the killer at VT will not even have a GLIMMER of an idea that THIS IS THEIR FAULT!! If they would stop playin' that crap, stop giving that mad man any "glory" it wouldn't plant the idea in as MANY heads as it is. Oh, some one some where would think of it all on their own. But.....for shits sake, this guy is flippin' INFAMOUS.

I won't watch one second of that shit. I won't. And I won't write one more word about it. But I just had to get this out of my system.

It flat out makes me sick.

Tammi,
I couldn't agree more. I used to be a Today show junkie, back in the mid 1990s. Then the Oklahoma City bombing occurred. They had someone doing a live man-on-the-scene there for a YEAR. I mean, once the building was gone, what's your story? There wasn't one.

I no longer have cable. I don't watch the Today show. I don't get a daily newspaper. I get all my news from the internet.

i hate to disagree with you, Tammi, but...

don't get me wrong, it's vile that the MSM is playing the package. wrong wrong wrong. it should have been turned over to the FBI immediately, and that's it. and when Fox News decided to stop playing the package, they were so self-congratulatory about it that THAT made me sick. "we want you to know how great we are, because we're not going to play the videos anymore or show the pictures. we're so awesome. we're doing it out of respect. how great are we? once again, we are wonderful because we have decided to stop playing the package. kudos to us." ED Hill was asking for viewer email about whether they should have played the package to begin with and whether the viewers agree with their decision to stop playing the package... you know me... i sent her an email stating that it was great and all, but the self-praise was making me sick. "and if it comes across as a Fox News Alert that you've stopped, my head just might explode". or something like that.

however, the threats? the fault of the people making them. free will and whatnot. i understand your point about the media hype making future psychos and madmen, and i agree that they absolutely should not fuel the fire, but this is the fault of sick people who want to capitalize on the aftermath of such a tragedy.

and i'd bet (dollars to donuts) that more than half of them are kids who have exams and want just a little extra time to study for them.

sorry for such a long comment. i think i'll go post this at my place in some form or other.
