Blogging Question

OK - I've looked and looked and don't see what I'm looking for.

So - I'll simply ask the experts.

Does anyone out there know if it is possible to ban an IP from your site if you are on blogspot?

I have a friend who is having some issues and I really really really don't want her to stop blogging. Can ya help?????

Hmmm, I wonder? ;)

My husband was telling me about being able to ban AN ENTIRE STATE! Wouldn't THAT be awesome? No more Michigan!!! YAY!!!

But that's not thru blogspot.

I never saw anything via blogspot for banning IP addy's. Haloscan has that option and its easy to install. One drawback with installing Halooscan, you lose all previous comments. They say they are saveable but I never figured that out.

If she has haloscan commenting and the offender leaves a message she can ban the IP through Haloscan. Tell her to sign up for it, it's free and a way to ban someone. Tell her I said Good luck!

Dazd, your comments are still there when you hit your permalink for the post, the other comments from blogspot should show up then.

If she's looking to ban them from commenting probably then haloscan may work. The only problem though is that IP bans are easy to get around (by using proxy servers).

If she's looking to ban them from being able to read the site at all, there isn't a decent way with Blogspot since it requires modification of the .htaccess file and you can't do that on Blogspot servers. She might be able to search out a Javascript redirect, but if the user's ip changes (ie: dial up) then it won't work all that well.
