Expedia Is Off My List

Or maybe I should say it's now ON my bad list.

Last night we booked the flights for Florida. We are leaving Saturday - I'm coming home on the 11th.

Somehow we accidently booked my flights 2x. Cuz called Expedia immediately. I mean within a minute.

They said we could either canx. the flights and have a credit to use later or canx the entire transation and be charged $30. Oh - and it'll take anywhere from 30-60 days for her to have the money credited back to her credit card.

Even though they saw what happened and we called immediately.

No exceptions. Up to 60 days to return the money.

I have a problem with that. A big one.

They just lost my business. And with the travelin' I'll be doin' that's sayin' something.

Customer Service. It only takes one small thing to lose a customer. Companies seem to forget that anymore. I think it's time to remind them.

Suggestion: if you call the credit card company and complain about how unreasonable expedia is being, etc. The credit card company just might take the charge off themselves and deal w/expedia directly. It depends on who your card company is but it's worth a try. Also, sending a certified letter to your states consumer affairs division and the better business bureau will help to speed things up a lot!

You see in florida they're not allowed to hold onto a charge for i believe more than 45 days by law. but you can check that out with your consumer affairs div in your state.

hope this helps.

Tammi,
I only use Expedia and Travelocity to shop. I go to the airline websites directly to actually purchase using the prices that I got while shopping. I have never had a problem canceling within 24 hours dealing with the actual airline websites.

I would write a letter to Expedia as well telling them that you are contacting consumer affairs and better business bureau.

Good luck!

What Michele said, go through your credit card company.

Also what Jerry said, never book throught those companies only use them as a guide to which airline (etc) has the best fair and then go book through that airline directly. I've been screwed by travelocity before, that will never happen again.

Find their corporate offices and start throwing molotov coctails.

Or do what they said. Actually with the price of gas being what it is, molotov cocktails are pretty expensive....

Well, whatever you do, don't do hotwire... trust me on that one. They got me those fabulous times in and out of Austin. Once was enough for me.

Good enough for me. Goodbye Expedia.
