I can't swear that this is true, but I can easily believe it. I got this following email from my aunt. **UPDATE: My friend Jovi just sent me to Snopes on this - and it first surfaced in 2003 so it's not from these hurricanes. Still - check out those pictures. Yikes!!
Florida Power & Light Working At Orlando Intern'l Airport
Just another day at work in the beautiful Florida Sun!!! A Florida Power & Light crew putting in lines for an addition to the Orlando International Airport found the following in a culvert they were using...
The gator is/was 18' 2" long.
The rattlesnake roundup totaled 87.
FP&L shared these pictures.
I'm sorry, that was my shrieks and screams you heard across the state. I apologize for startling anyone...but HOLY CRAP!
Not enough drugs in the world to make me stand close to any of them...nuh uh!
Posted by: Lee Ann at October 1, 2004 04:20 PMOMG Lee Ann? I heard you all the way up here in Yankee Land !!!
Posted by: Jovi at October 1, 2004 05:47 PMHoly freakin' shit!!!!!!!!!!!!
If I had happened on that alli-garookin'-gator, the ambulance squad would be putting the paddles on my chest.
I often bitch about Jersey, but you can dig in any culvert in the state, and you won't come across one of those vile, prehistoric beasts.
Posted by: Jim - PRS at October 1, 2004 08:28 PMNot smart enough to be "asceered" of gators, but snakes .... well, I already told you of my love for the little lucifers!
I hate to say it, but if I would'a seen that nice gathering of foul beasts, I think that I would have had a foul smelling guest in the back of my pants!
OT- nice look for the blog. Ya did well! :)
Posted by: That 1 Guy at October 2, 2004 02:21 AMThat's one big gator... don't think I'd be standing anywhere near the thing.
Snakes don't scare me much but that many would make me a wee bit cautious. That second picture is kind of odd; though. Snakes are mostly solitary creatures, it's unusual to see that many in one spot (and snopes is right that we don't have western diamondbacks in Florida).
I really like some of Florida's non-poisonous snakes, especially the ones that eat bugs. I hate insects...
