Saturday Question of the Day

Every Saturday I'll try to come up with some "out there" question that just makes you stop and think about something not so important. Think of it as a mini vacation. If you have any ideas drop me a line and we'll throw it in here. Who knows, it might be fun.

OK - Here goes:

Which is your favorite of the Four Seasons and Why?

No Negatives Allowed. No, I hate summer because..... nope. This is the Happy Thought Post!!

My favorite season is fall. When I lived up north I loved the changing of the leaves, the crispness of the air. I couldn't wait to go and take the drive through the country and see how beautiful the trees were, all dressed out in their best colors. Windows down, the air just felt lighter.

I remember raking big piles of leaves, building bonfires at night. The best camping is always September. New jackets, hoodie sweatshirts.

Hayrides and halloween! As a kid, I would always start constructing that precious and all important Christmas list right around October 30. Needed time to make sure it was just right! :) The anticipation of the holidays really starts to build.

My favorite part of fall? Football. Saturdays watching the Irish kick ass! (well, we did for a while there - it's my fantasy, leave me alone!) Sunday afternoons spent gathered around the television, everyone sporting their team's gear, tables piled high with any number of munchies. Cheering and coaching your team along. Good natured heckeling, challenges being issued and it never failed, someone would start with the "remember when and we'd all have to listen to the Glory Days recollections of a fan whose team has seen those better days.

Yeah - I love the fall.

What about you? What's your favorite season?

Frankie Valli! No. Autumn. Crunchy multicolored leaves. Halloween. Guy Fawke's Day. Crispness in the air. Mist. Oh, and new boots. We're both hoping to go to New England one October *dreams*

Spring - it's the season that has the longest time to go before winter, which is a rough time in Wisconsin.

That, and I *love* the smell of lilacs. Lilac season is only about 2 weeks or so, but it's heaven.

That's a hard one, as each has their beauty. It is truly hard to decide between the fall, rich with colour and the bounty of the Earth being brought in at harvest, or early spring, when life returns. Hmmmm. Have to think on that a bit...

Fall!!! The heat wave breaks, the harvest comes in, the fair comes to town. Cooler weather means more comfortable quilting, which coincides with new television seasons and the end of re-runs. The kids can play in the yard without being slathered with sunscreen or bundled like Eskimos. Plus, fall contains Halloween, and who doesn't love Halloween??

Fall - it's harvest time, everything has come to full term. The air moves like it means business, and with the sweat of summer now long behind the folks can too. Sweatshirts come out for evening walks, there might even be room for the fire in the fireplace. High school football games with the neighbors. Quail season.

Fall. October is my favorite month...Nothing better than shorts and a hoodie. Here in the Northeast the trees turn the most beautiful colors and the days are warm and the nights are cool -

I think we have a consensus going here (well, all except Harvey and he just likes being the odd man out *grin*). Fall. You'd think I'd say summer because I love being warm, but as a season with the best stuff happening, it's Fall. I love the leaves turning, I love it when it stays warm enough that you don't have to do the winter bundle-up. I even like the shorter days - I know there are people that don't like that part, but I love it (what can I say, I'm a night owl). And the air on the best days has a wonderful crisp scent that is unlike any other season. Yeah, gotta say fall. (although summer is a close second)

Didn't even have to think about it; Fall. Summers are so hot and humid, and Fall has always seemed to me a time of 'rebirth', as much as Spring, just different.

I'd love to experience it again... ;)

That's an easy question! Fall. It signifies so much. For me, growing up in Indiana, the first cool day of fall means the house is open with all that cool fresh air filling the house. A light sweater on and spending the day in the kitchen. (My Mom started it and I continue to this day, it's a calling.) The day is spent making banana and cinnamon bread. Some for during the week, the rest to fill the freezer. Then all kinds of other sweet yeast breads and goodies to get ready for winter.

The smell of the cool fresh air (with a twinge of burning leaves in there lightly), the smell of cinnamon banana and yeast and the warmth of the kitchen. It's my favorite time of the year! I can't wait for fall/winter to arrive down here, then I can turn off the A/C!

Fall, for all the reasons mentioned already, plus the low amount of allergens. I like the look, smell, feel and temperature of fall, and I feel better during that time of year than any other.

I'm with Harvey on this one, SPRING!

It's when life starts anew, everything starts blooming, coming to life, being reborn. It almost feels like a fresh start. The colors are so pretty, the smells wonderful (we have a bunch of lilac plants also) hints of warm weather to come.

For me, spring. Here in my part of Texas we don't have many fall colors in the trees, but in spring, it's our time. Hillsides covered in Bluebonnets, those and Indian Paintbrushes lining the highways for miles and miles, the wildflowers of all kinds covering the pastures while the tiny calves and colts are learning to use their legs, all of these make up for our drab falls.
I've been lucky enough to travel some, Heaven is a Sierra Nevada winter, a Texas Spring, a Michigan summer and a Vermont fall.
