Got away from this for a bit, time to get back at it folks! :)
Every Saturday I'll try to come up with some "out there" question that just makes you stop and think about something not so important. Think of it as a mini vacation. If you have any ideas drop me a line and we'll throw it in here. Who knows, it might be fun.
OK - Here goes:
Which do you prefer; quiet rainy Sundays at home or fast past Saturdays with friends/family? Why?
I love to spend time with friends. I love to go and just cut loose and have a good time. But I'll admit, I simply adore rainy Sundays. Even if that means I can't go out on the boat or to the beach. I love those Sunday afternoons, with a steady rain, not to heavy. Music on the CD player, usually something smooth, blues or jazz or if I'm feeling sappy some good old fashioned love songs. Light my favorite candles and snuggle down on the couch with a good book. A homemade pot of soup simmering on the stove. Ahh yes. That's very nice.
Unless of course it's football season, then all 4 TVs blaring and fantasy football running on both computers. :)
What about you? Which do you prefer? Care to share why?
Posted by Tammi at August 21, 2004 06:57 AMGotta be Sundays without family. As in, when our daughter is spending the day with her Grandparents. Bliss! Rainy is good too. Especially when curled up on the couch watching an classic movie on T.V. I feel at peace just thinking about it. Thanks Tammi!
Posted by: Sally at August 21, 2004 06:20 AMB.C. (or before children) I LOVED rainy Sundays...we would rent like five movies and stay in bed all day watching them and eating very-bad-for-you food. I miss that. Now I have no choice -everyday is a fast paced day - trying to keep up. Back then I never got to hear, "Your the best Mommy in the world" -so I would have to say that losing mt lazy Sundays was worth it...I think...LOL.
Posted by: ALa71 at August 21, 2004 08:52 AMI'm kind of torn on this. I think I might be a waffler =)
I like days like we had last Saturday where we did a three hour bike ride, ran a few errands, then met at a friends house for a neighborhood get together with snacks, wine and such. We were on the go all day. Sunday was about the same pace with a kayak trip, some shopping, then swimming in the afternoon. We fell into bed exhausted but it was a good tired.
This weekend we are going to lay low on purpose and I am looking forward to not getting out of my chair unless it is absolutely necessary until after lunch. Then I might just take the dog for a walk and call it good. Back to my chair and maybe watch Lord of the Rings... again.
We usually find a better balance than we have lately and pretty much had a routine of exercise - biking or kayaking in the mornings, errands/chores after then rest in the late afternoons and evening.
Now, I will have to say that exercise does make me feel good, but I do love best of all riding my recliner, hot cup of green and chamomile tea, and watching an old favorite movie.
Posted by: Bonfire7 at August 21, 2004 09:10 AMIf I had to choose (both options are great), it's the rainy sunday. Baking sourdough bread to go with the chilli in the pot, cool white wine with that. A fire in the fireplace, a blanket across my legs, reading by the fire with my best pal.
It never rains here :-(
Posted by: lex at August 21, 2004 11:49 AMI'm a quiet/rainy person.
The thing is, I have a big house that's full of STUFF that I bought because I thought it would make me happy.
Every once in a while, I like to give that stuff the chance to prove to me that NOT throwing it away is a good idea :-)
Posted by: Harvey at August 21, 2004 01:27 PMBoth have their benefits. I'd like to have Ala's trade-in, but all good things in time. So I think it would be a rainy saturday at home. Playing video games, watching movies and just be decadent and indulgent!
And now the reality check, dryer buzzer just went off. Back to folding clothes and putting away clothes! ;D
Posted by: Lee Ann at August 21, 2004 01:51 PMRainy day at home. I'm a rainy day kinda gal. Well, I was before children. BC, lay in bed or on the couch all day, sex, movies, sex, eat, sex, sleep. ;-) Rainy days are still cool here, no running around. I just spend so much time frantic that a good rainy relaxing day is nice. :)
Posted by: Boudicca at August 21, 2004 07:22 PMCan I go for quiet "misty" Sunday? I used to like rain before we moved to this house. Then we had to spend all that money to make the water go away... I don't like rain anymore :-( but I'll take a foggy misty day - and quiet is always good.
