Hello?

I think he's gone now. Like a bad date he showed up, raised some hell and then snuck out.

The wind isn't nearly as strong. In fact I can hear the rain for the first time in hours.

And exhale.

It's pretty dark out but from what I can see I don't think there's any real damage here. I'll know better in the morning when I can walk the neighborhood.

They're are saying he's right by the Orlando Airport, with wind gusts of 105. So it's not over yet.

And they are calling for severe Thunderstorms for the next few days, but I'm alright with that. That I can handle.

So....this will be it for the evening. Gonna let everyone know I'm alright and then pour myself a big ole glass of wine and go to bed.

Thanks to all of you for your kind thoughts and words. I can honestly say I didn't feel completely alone through all of this. Thanks.

Thank God for underground utilities, right? :)

I'm glad you're fine. You don't seem emotionally scarred either! My friends in Tampa are cool, but said there is much damage south of them. What a mess. Keep your supplies. This early in the season. Hugs!

You snuggle up tight, lady. Batten down the hatches. Shoot, have two glasses of wine, the second is on me.

All the best.

Why aren't all utilities underground? Like in England...
I am glad that you are all right -enjoy your wine!

In answer to ALa71...Florida is giant sandbar. You can't dig too deeply and that's the bad part. This storm was not expected to make land this far south. It was on target to hit Tampa and they made plans for controlled power outages to the outer bank, reduction of water pressure to keep water safe to drink after the storm...all the things you need to do to prepare.

Then suddenly it took an easterly jog and these people had 2 hours tops (which sounds like a long time, but compared to 3 days to prepare, it's not) to get things together and get out.

The only difference between tornadoes in Indiana and hurricanes in Florida. Indiana is little warning but its over quickly. Florida, you've got days to prepare and hold your breath and then if it switches course, all you can do is hold your breath, pray and wait. Its a tortuous way to spend your day.
