Saturday Question of the Day

Every Saturday I'll try to come up with some "out there" question that just makes you stop and think about something not so important. Think of it as a mini vacation. If you have any ideas drop me a line and we'll throw it in here. Who knows, it might be fun.

OK - Here goes:

What is the silliest thing you've ever done?

Now I didn't say embarrassing, or stupid. I said silly. You know, something that, even now when you look back, it makes you smile.

There are any number of Silly Tammi Stories I could share (stick around long enough and you'll probably hear them anyway). Stories on things I've said or done to cheer someone up, while playing with some of the children in my life or even for some of the men in my life. This one was just plain silly and FUN.

Right after my divorce I moved to Florida and met a young lady in her mid 20's (I in my early 30's) that was like a younger, blonder verision of me. We hit it off immediately. One of our strongest bonds was our fondness for "having a good time." And it was rather legendary, if I must say so myself.

One Thursday evening, after we get done at the gym, we decide we needed to cut loose a bit. (note - to this day, I am not allowed to play on Thursday nites). But, I was tired and a little cranky and didn't want to deal with the "bar scene" so much. She had a brilliant (so we thought) idea. We would deck ourselves out and go to one of the hottest spots in Tampa. We would pretend to be models, she American, me from Italy and I couldn't speak English. That way I could dance and drink, just not deal with any crap. Didn't I tell you - Brilliant.

So we head to her place and get dressed. Now she was tall (5'11") but I'm 6'2" barefoot. So finding something to wear was gonna be a challenge. Well, lookie here. She had a little black dress covered in zippers. It had my name all over it. Put that bad boy on with a pair of 3" spikes and we were locked and loaded. Slick back the hair and paint on the face, voila - instant model.

We get to the club, already in character and they didn't even charge us cover!! She orders our drinks (remember I can't speak English) and we head for the dance floor. It was hysterical. By 1:00am I'm dancing with some college kid who is going on and on about how no one is going to believe he was dancing with an international model. All the while I'm smiling and acting like I can't understand a word he's saying. (I wonder where I put that Emmy at?) At one point, he had someone take our picture! Poor kid - hope he never runs across this blog.

Anyway - it was a great night. And to this day I gotta smile over the night that I was an International Model.

So - what's the silliest thing you've ever done?

I used to vehicle surf.
Real bright right?

Stand up in the back of Calimus's pickup truck while on I-75 and surf. Then CLimb on the roof.
Or get back in the truck. Or jump to Jasons (another friends truck) who would be driving beside us, and jump back again. All while we were doing about 65 or 75 mph on the Interstate.
They said I was fearless then.

I think I was nuts now lol

.. out of many, many things.. I'd have to say it was when I let an old roomate brand me with a red hot religious artifact.. the whole story is in the archives somewhere....

Well, there were several to choose from, but right now I am thinking that it was to start a blog. :) I don't think that streaking in the late 60s/early 70s even comes close.

Agreeing with Laughing Wolf, I'd say it's blogging. Especially the whole Blog War/Evil Glenn/Filthy Lies thing. Complete childish nonsense.

But it's EVER so much fun :-)

OK, Tammi, I had to think about this all day and even had to call my sister. I think the silliest thing I ever did was put dog poop in my Aunt's suitcase right before her drive home because we (my siblings and I) were seeking revenge for her short sheeting us. The poop was in a baggy, but she's a biologist and it completely wigged her out. Looking back on it, it was silly, but also really disgusting.

But you win. Yours is a classic story!

I think they are all great! I love being silly, and there is nothing better than "telling a tale" on ourselves.

BS - glad you're over that phase. Come on down and do some real surfing!

LW - I'm thinkin' the streaking may be a bit more "out there" than the blogging is! At least I hope so, Mom knows I blog!

Harvey - and I for one am happy your blogging - ESPECIALLY the Evil Glen Part.

Bou - GREAT story!! And perfect revenge, my friend, perfect revenge. (sorry to make you think so hard!) ;-)

Hmmmmmmmm I don't ever recall being silly!

Okay, Lee and I each have one.

His is, he decided to take a shortcut one day in his Commando through a kudzu field. Once he couldn't go any further forward, back or any direction...he walked to the grocery store and bought a big serated knife. By the time he was done, he half filled a small dumpster! Brilliant!

Okay, mine is my girlfriends and I had a going away party for a friend at a country bar that had become our second home (literally!). We had a couple of primo location tables and just enjoyed the hell out of the night. As the night wore on, we began rating the cowboys as they walked past us. Well, specifically, rating the back view.

So one poor guy didn't score real well, but was cute...so I told him to try again after we'd have another round of drinks...I was sure he could score better!

What a fabulous night! Ah, memories! :D
