I had a bit of trouble sleeping last night. So I started channel surfing. Wow.
When I moved to this part of the state, I took a bit of time to learn what channel options I had. I stumbled on the History International Channel. Do you get it? If not - ask you cable company for it. There are History Timelines, History's Generals, any number of Military History programs, and last night they had History Viewpoint: 100 years of Terror - The Fright Decades. This installment focused on various terrorist groups that were functioning from the 70's - throught the 90's.
WOW. Wow. It wasn't just a walk thru nightmare memories. I learned new facts. It was a real eye-opener for me.
One of the things that I learned was about a speech on Terrorism that President Reagan gave back in 1985. I didn't get enough information to find it on line, but I did find this message to Congress regarding Proposed Legislation to Combat International Terrorism. This speech was given over 20 years ago. I know hind site is 20/20, but OH, If Only We Had Paid Attention.
This particular program stopped at 1999. It talks about how the greatest danger now are the terrorist groups that combine hatred and religion. It talks about the new age of terrorism. It'll make you think. It might even make you pray.
Not being a television watcher for the most part, I wanted to pass along this gem of a channel. Like I said, if you don't get it, contact your cable company and ask for it. It's more than worth the effort.
