Nite Ya'll

Well shoot.

The training went really well this morning. They LOVED the new packet I put together and it really worked well as a leaders guide for me. There are a couple of things I want to add, but can do that later this week.

I did get to finally meet the "head honcho" for this customer. Nice guy, a little mad because of the changes, but some people just hate change. That's all right. I'll give him all the time he needs.

However, he kinda backed me into a corner. I let him vent (that's what a good sales rep does afterall). Then after I say -

Well, XYZ is my main focus. You tell me what you need and I'll make it happen.

Him: Well, the delivery drivers need training on the new item. How soon can you do that?

ME: When do you want it done? I can adjust my schedule.

Him: 6:00AM tomorrow

well shit. Folks, that's 6 o clock in the MORNING!!!! Normally I'm just hitting the snooze button about that time, and the coffee pot has just started grinding the beans.

6:00am?!?!?! Now I realize many of you have to be at work at that time, or earlier. Heck, I did for years and years and years. But you have to realize, I'm a full blown spoiled rotten sales rep now. This is not happy news for me.

So....I'll be getting up at 3:00am so that I can make sure and make it ther by 5:45. Can't be late, I only have a 30 min. window. Oh, that's right. Did I mention that the meeting itself will not last as long as the drive there will!!!!!

Ohhhhh.......the things I do for my customers.

Ok - I'm off to sleep. You all talk amongst yourselves.

UPDATE: Customer 1 Tammi 0: Got up just fine (thanks for the phone call my friend) and stopped on the way to pick up 2 dozen donuts, 1 dozen bagels and some cream cheese. Got to the meeting right on time. 6:00am. 4 drivers show up. 4. F O U R. The meeting lasted 15 mins.

The good news. Found a new way into town with less congestion and discovered a new theme park - Spledid China (or something like that). Just what we need here in Orlando, another theme park.

Oh, and traffic at 5:15 in the morning. No Problem. Probably a good thing after I drove over the median on my way into the gas station. :)

Oh, I just hate 3am wake up calls... I'd rather go to work at midnight and go all night long...

I feel for you. I used to get up at 3:30 a.m. every work day to be there by 5:00 a.m. As time has rolled ahead, my responsibilities changed and I am now doing a mostly 8-5 gig. I am a project manager/operations manager and occasionally I get caught in a project that gets me up before the birds. It's hell. The danged coffee cart isn't even open then. And it never fails that those projects then require me to be there late to meet night crews. Not enough coffee in the world for this type of schedule. I even quit making excuses for slurring my words after a few weeks of 16 hour days. Thank goodness these projects are fewer and farther between and I now have a team to cover things.

I have gotten WAY to used to snoozing late. Spoiled rotten, I am.

Hope you are okay. Take it easy.

Just curious, but are you as "find the silver lining" in person as you are in your posts? You usually seem to throw in something upbeat even in the grumpy posts (which I consider one of the attractive features of your blog).

I hate to admit it Harvey, but yeah, pretty much. Oh, I may grumble for a bit, but I won't stop working the issue until I find SOMETHING good out of it.

Right now, since my day took even more of a dive, I'm blogging a bit then napping on the deck. THATs a silver lining. :)
