I had to do it

As you know, fall is here. That means the temperatures are dropping. In fact - I'm actually wearing my flannel nightie tonite....WTF am I going to do when it REALLY gets cold?!?!

Anyway - many folks have taken great delight in reminding me....it get's cold up here. Oh, I'm not talking "brisk". I don't mean chilly. I'm talking TOO DAMN COLD TO SNOW cold.

Yeah, yipee.

So in order to help you understand why I'm complaining, once I start. And you can bet I'll start at some point - I added the weather pixie to my sidebar. I want y'all to KNOW that the temperature can drop below 30. Yes, Bou...I'm talkin' to YOU! ;-)

Damn......where'd I put those slippers. Who cares if they have Santa on them....my feet are cold NOW!!

I was up there on a business trip a couple of years back and it snowed in the middle of October. I couldn't believe it, my first thought: FFS it's October and these poor rascals have to deal with Snow already.

I'm sending warm thoughts your way if that helps.

I just checked your weather-slut (or is that pixie?) and she says that it's 61 degrees there. My goodness are you in for a crappy winter. I'll just send along warm thoughts your way.

Thanks guys. And Johnny? I checked her 3 times....I swear to heaven it's only 51! I'm freezing!!!

I hear ya, Tammi -- everyone has been threatening me with the old "We've had X number of mild winter years, we'll probably be tit deep in snow this winter."

I figure they're right, since A) Koolaid's commute is considerably longer and B) There's a baby due in February.

This reminds me of one of the perks of being pregnant, though -- I'm 50% warmer than everyone else in the household! HAH!

And the pictures are where?

Last Thanksgiving when I went up there I froze my ass off! So....enjoy :-)

Us Northern folk are going to take great pride in ripping on your for say 51 degrees is freezing.

Freezing doesn't happen to the temps hit in the teens.

I didn't even wear a jacket this morning and it's in the mid 50's here.

None of the guys are going to like your weather pixie cause she's going to be fully clothed!

On the other hand, where it is still 100 degrees in Arizona, mine is almost always in a bikini ;-)

Someone has been lying to you, I don't recall it ever getting below 30 degrees up here, unless you count windchill.

BTW, I like it cold, it's still too warm out.

Okay, we're going to have a little crash course and then I think we'll have to go shopping.
1) Thinsulate. Know it, love it. More is better.
2) Columbia- this brand will be your friend.
3) breathable layers
4) Hot chocolate with Buttershots- there is no way in the world to make it thru winter without it!

Hot Chocolate and Baileys ... a very good friend also.

I love winter...driving in snow is fun, especualy when you can get the car to spin around dangerusly infront of people comming at you.

I think you misread that Contagion: She said below 30, not 30 below.

It gets below thirty a LOT.

Thirty below zero, as Contagion said, I can only think of one time it did without adding in the windchill (with the windchill it was estimated at -65).

That was the year my '78 pinto died.

I stupidly parked it into the wind.

The block cracked. And the anti-freeze froze.

Oh yeah, I'm seriously considering tossing up the tent in the back yard this weekend just for the hell of it, because I love sleeping outside under some good wool blankets when it's under 50 degrees.

Maybe cook up some scotch eggs for breakfast... hmmmm, this is starting to sound like a plan....
