Today there is no Katrina coverage in this house. Today is movies and music. Books and the smell of cleaning supplies.
It may sound callous and cold - but I can't watch one more person being resuced. I can't see one more child sleeping on the street. Me watching or not will not make a bit off difference.
It doesn't mean I don't care. It's part of what I *CAN* do to help. Sitting in my chair, weeping and praying is not fixing a damned thing. It's actually hurting. I can't help if I don't DO something.
So today I take care of ME. That gives me the strength to help THEM.
Posted by Tammi at September 3, 2005 09:20 AMI'm glad your are doing that!
I woke up at 4 in the morning and ended up watching coverage until 6am. Then had terrible nightmares (not specifically on what I watched).
But now, I have to write a paper on it...on how we can recover. Eh!

Posted by: Eric at September 3, 2005 10:54 AMHello Tammi, I hope that you are doing ok. Thank you for posting your site. I have been trying to find out how some dear friends of mine are doing in Pascaguola. I have been trying all sorts of ways to find out how they are. Thier names are John and Babs Hackett. Do you know of anyway that I can get information about them? Short of riving there from Indiana and becoming one of the problem people trying to get through the mess there, I am running out of ideas.
Thank you for your time and God Bless.
