Two dead as Katrina slams South Florida with 80 mph winds
A hurricane is a hurricane is a hurricane. NOT to be taken lightly.
Bou, Pam, VW, Val, Steve are all South Florida Bloggers. Bou has set up her Dad as a guest blogger so that if she loses power we can still know how she is. Check in with them. Offer them encouragement.
Damn........I'll be so glad when it's November!!!!
UPDATE 9:50pm Central Time: According to Bou and TGOO it wasn't as bad as it could have been....rain, wind, general yick. Whew.

Posted by: Sissy at August 25, 2005 08:39 PMFor us in PB County, it was a non-event. That thing hammered Miami... taking it over the Everglades, continuing to feed it. My folks may take a much larger hit on Sunday as she just sits in that warm gulf water and grows.
The folks that died were hit by trees. This is why I don't go out in TS or hurricane force winds and rain. Trees go down and its dangerous. I feel awful for their families.
Posted by: Bou at August 26, 2005 07:36 AMI`m a So. Fla. blogger too!!!
Actually we`re getting pounded as I write this.
I was going to do a post on it but power is unreliable, so I`ll wait until it blows over.
Katrina caught us by suprise. I live in Key West, so we`re familiar with hurricanes and get prepared accordingly.
She snuck up on us last night while we were sleeping. From all indications (last night) Katrina was going to hit around Miami and head North Westish.
Apparently she`s a fickle girl because she couldn`t make up her mind last night and now we`ve been getting hit pretty hard for the last 3 hours.
I would say sustained winds at around 50 mph with gusts up tp 80.
That`s just a guess, but a good one.
When I can rely on my power staying on I`ll post something on it.
Joatmoat- I need to add you to my FL Bloggers list. I have a whole crew on my blog, I'm slowly building up. What a mess Katrina is turning out to be.
