He is NOT a Victim

I'm just pissed. Currently on Fox they are talking about the shooting at the school in MN. They keep talking about the fact that the kid that shot his grandfather, his grandfathers girlfriend/wife and several of his classmates gave all sorts of external signals. They are focusing on his appearance. Dressing in GOTH and was teased a lot. They keep talking about how he was "persecuted" for being so tall.

OK let's just think about this for a moment.

Bullshit. I call bullshit.

There was just something NOT RIGHT with this kid. Period.

Dressing in Goth is just a personal choice, and usually just a cry of rebellion or a desire for attention.

And this shit that being teased for being different was a factor in his stability. Again - BULLSHIT!!

I was 6' at 13. Talk about different!! I was a reader, and as shy as the day is long through most of school. A day didn't got by that I wasn't called a "Freak" - to this day there is a girl that I knew back then that still refers to me that way - and it ain't meant to be nice.

I can say I've never shot anyone. Ever. I've never had thoughts of murder. I've never even planned revenge - ok other than showing up at my reunion and being proud of who I am now. Well that and "forgetting" to give my exhusband back the keys to his brand new truck. (didn't do anything, but damn was he worried.)

This kid had deep issues. He lost his father at an early age - hmmm...me too. His mother was involved in a serious accident that left her completely disabled (from what I understand) - that I can't relate to. I hate to hear when someone loses someone they love and need. HOWEVER...that doesn't mean they will turn into mass murderers.

This Kid Had Issues. It's too late to fix them now. But for goodness sake, DO NOT TURN HIM INTO A VICTIM!!!

Damn - I hate when the press does that.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families.

This is all I have to say on this matter.

A lot of prayers winging their way across the Atlantic, that's for sure...

I agree and was thinking the same thing. But I think boys respond differently to bullying, rejection, ego abuse, etc. Most just develop issues that roll over into baggage.

This one was clearly unstable, and they admit that the school had their eye on him. It's a shame they didn't document the threats and get him expelled earlier.

I also found myself wondering if this is the reason there is such an aggressive anti-bullying campaign going on in public schools these days.

I agree with you Terri, I was 4'11" going into 10th grade in the largest High School in California. That made me second smallest in the entire school. Give you an idea how big my graduating class was 1500 seniors. I was picked on by everybody and I didn't kill any of them. This victim society we live is so crazy, no one is at fault for their own actions.

I won’t give Jeff Weise cover by blaming his actions on the social missteps of others. He doesn’t deserve to have his actions legitimized or his memory given a status that it doesn’t deserve. ~ Zombyboy @ Resurrectionsong

I think we're all in agreement here. Personal responsibility and character. Whatta concept, huh?
